Toyota has unveiled the SF-R, their new entry-level sportscar, at the Tokyo Motor Show. The concept showcased at the event confirms the fact that Toyota is still not done making small rear-wheel drive sportscars.
The SF-R is a two-door front-engined vehicle that can seat four people. It sports a stout appearance and the fascia features a large black grille with round headlamps with DRLs. The manufacturer has made it compact with its small overall dimensions, eventually making it apt for the streets of Japan. Though this is still in its concept form, its production version is expected to be a fun to drive car.
Toyota is tight-lipped about the overall specifications of the SF-R. However, we expect the sportscar to employ a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol mill that will churn out 128bhp of power. This powerplant will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Whenever the Toyota SF-R goes into production, it will be positioned below the GT 86. It will be added to the manufacturer's enticing sports car line-up that includes the GT 86 sibling and the eagerly awaited successor to the Supra.
